Guide / Every rule
Element without a label
The check bpmnlint/label-required, in the group Modelling rules.
Why it matters
An unlabelled task, event or gateway tells the reader nothing about what happens there.
How to fix it
Give the element a name.
Where you see it
The editor puts a marker on the element while you draw, and the Problems tab of the sidebar lists it under Rules, with the rule name bpmnlint/label-required. In a terminal, penstock check --only rules reports it.
To change how strict this rule is, set label-required to error, warn or off in your .bpmnlintrc. See Validation.
