Guide / Every rule
Element without a place in the diagram
The check bpmnlint/no-bpmndi, in the group Modelling rules.
Why it matters
An element that is in the process but not on the canvas cannot be seen, selected or fixed in the editor.
How to fix it
Add the element to the diagram, or delete it from the file.
Where you see it
The editor puts a marker on the element while you draw, and the Problems tab of the sidebar lists it under Rules, with the rule name bpmnlint/no-bpmndi. In a terminal, penstock check --only rules reports it.
To change how strict this rule is, set no-bpmndi to error, warn or off in your .bpmnlintrc. See Validation.
