Guide / Every rule
Element overlaps another or leaves its parent
The check bpmnlint/no-overlapping-elements, in the group Modelling rules.
Why it matters
Elements drawn over each other hide one another.
How to fix it
Move the elements apart, or lay the diagram out again.
Where you see it
The editor puts a marker on the element while you draw, and the Problems tab of the sidebar lists it under Rules, with the rule name bpmnlint/no-overlapping-elements. In a terminal, penstock check --only rules reports it.
To change how strict this rule is, set no-overlapping-elements to error, warn or off in your .bpmnlintrc. See Validation.
