Guide / Every rule
A worker sets a variable no step after it reads
The check code/writer-unread, in the group Diagrams and code.
Why it matters
A variable the worker writes and nothing downstream reads is written for nothing; often the name is not the one the next step looks for.
How to fix it
Read it in a later step, or drop it from the worker.
Where you see it
The Problems tab lists it under Code. In a terminal, penstock code reports it with the file and line. This check is part of Penstock Pro, and Team in a pipeline.
